How to Choose Resistance Bands
Use this practical guide to decide what fits your workout routine, space and budget. Recommendations are based on general equipment-selection principles, not personal product tests.
Know the main types
Loop bands are compact and are often used for lower-body movements and warmups. Tube bands may include handles and door anchors. Flat therapy-style bands offer another feel. Choose based on the exercises you plan to perform rather than the number of pieces in a bundle.
Compare resistance carefully
Color codes and advertised resistance ranges are not standardized between brands. Review the manufacturer’s measurements and instructions. Start light enough to control the entire movement; resistance increases as some bands stretch.
Safety before every session
Inspect bands for tiny cuts, brittleness and wear. Keep them away from sharp edges and heat. If using an anchor, follow its instructions and check that the door or fixture is suitable and securely shut. Keep tensioned bands away from your face.
What matters when shopping
Look for clear replacement policies, included accessories you need, and detailed exercise and anchor instructions. Avoid assuming that more resistance is always better.
